Orientation: 1 hour, virtual
Meet your team! In this first session you’ll get to know your coaches and each other.
Your learning will be accelerated by harnessing the perspectives of your peers. You’ll share your current communication challenges while setting expectations for the length of the course.

Birkman Conversation: 90 minutes, virtual
This is no cookie cutter approach to communications. This session will help you discover how to approach your communications by maximizing your individual strengths and motivators.
The Birkman Method is a perception and self-awareness tool that can be used to build your Emotional Intelligence. It offers insights into your strengths, environments in which you thrive, and how and when you might exhibit stress behaviors. After taking the assessment, one of Articulation’s coaches will review your results with you. We will investigate how you prefer to interact with people, how you influence others, and provide strategies to perform at your best on a regular basis.
Held: Jan. 25 – Feb. 22

Message Method Session 2
Held: Feb. 15 between 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Influential Storytelling and Slide Visuals Best Practices: 50 minutes, asynchronous
Stories and slides, when well used, help your message to stick with an audience long after you leave the room.
1: Influential Storytelling: 30 minutes
Our storytelling module will teach participants how to find and share the stories that help them bridge the gap between what they know and what they want their audience to understand.
- Understand what a story is, why it works in modern organizations, how to use stories effectively, and when it’s best to use them.
- Learn how storytelling fits into a larger message framework and share the types of stories that resonate with audiences.
2: Slide Visuals: 20 minutes
When you must incorporate slide visuals into your communication, they can either support your message or distract from it. In this asynchronous session, participants will learn how to create slide visuals that engage the audience and help your message stick.
- Identify the four primary purposes of slide visuals.
- Determine the design features of a successful slide visual.
- Communicate effectively with slides by using visual or verbal cues.
Message Method Feedback Session: 1.5 – 2 hour, small group, virtual
It’s not the methodology that matters. It’s how you use the method to communicate your unique insights.
In this session, you will apply what you have learned during Message Method session to an actual communication that needs to be delivered to a specific audience. You will share your framework with your coach and a small group cohort for feedback and ways to make your communication stronger.
Held: Thursday, Feb. 29 – 1.5 hour sessions based on participants availability
*Number and timing of sessions will depend upon the number of participants. Maximum of six people per session.
After the Message Method Review Session you will receive our asynchronous video:
Virtual Presence: 20 minutes, asynchronous
When you’re not physically in the room with your audience, making full use of your virtual environment can make all the difference.
In this asynchronous module, participants will be given tips and checklists to ensure that they are their best virtual self.
- Understand how your environment impacts your presence.
- Learn how your voice is being heard in a virtual environment.
- Discover new ways to keep your audience fully engaged remotely.
Style & Delivery with Influential Presence: full-day, in-person*
It’s not just WHAT you say. Sometimes it’s HOW you say it.
This all-day, in-person retreat brings together everything you have learned up until this point and then goes further, asking: how do you show up as your best, most influential self?
This session is all about helping you develop and hone your power to influence through a combination of gravitas and communication. You will work through the process of understanding your own presence – from the quality of your voice, to the words you choose, to how you communicate non-verbally. Throughout, you will build better skills to command attention, evoke confidence, influence people and transform outcomes.
- Confirm values-based leadership style
- Know what behaviors distinguish a leader
- Build understanding of the impact of your individual communication style.
The day will culminate with a 5-minute business presentation created with learnings from Message Method Fundamentals, and Storytelling and Slide Visual modules for peer and coach feedback on your content, style and delivery.
*Includes breakfast and lunch, snacks and drinks
